January's Class

Here is a sneak peek at one of the projects we will do at my monthly class on Thursday. I wanted to put my new photo corner punch to good use and I have really been enjoy seeing all the cards that use designer paper this way.

Stamps: Embrace Life; Ink: Basic Brown, Chocolate Chip marker; Paper: Pallet O' Prints, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Certainly Celery; Accessories: Paper snips, post-it-notes (to mask), photo corner punch.

Yes, it could probably use a little more 'umph' but I like to keep my class projects simple and focus on only one or two aspects of a project. I don't want to overwhelm my newer stampers and I know that my more experienced stampers already know how to step it up a notch.

Sometimes you just need . . . . .

a little pat on the back! Being a SAHM it is nice to know I haven't lost all my marbles (yet)! LOL! I try to keep from overwhelming you all (well, all three of you) with these silly tests. ;)

My Embrace Needs Help. . . .

I have a good excuse why I hadn't posted in several days; because I was stuck on this card:

(Please ignore that black line along the top right that my scanner picked up.) I saw Nicole Heady's card and wanted to imitate it, (AKA: CASE) and then I was stumped on the sentiment element. I just couldn't get it to work the way I wanted. I finally added the three faux brads along the top to help balance the card and let it go.

Feel free to drop some suggestions on how to improve this card. Perhaps I'll give it another try! :D

Stamps: Embrace Life; Ink: Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Basic Brown; Paper: Rose Romance, Sahara Sand; Accessories: Certainly Celery Grosgrain, Key Tag, Horizontal Slot and 1/4" circle punches, Crystal Effects.

Troy's Merci Card

Troy's Pre-K teacher's birthday was yesterday, but we didn't know about it until he got some birthday cake during snack time yesterday so we made her a card today. I just mounted my brand spanking new Merci SAB stamp set! I had forgotten that the SAB stamps are now die cut! Yes! It literally took me 5 minutes to put it all together. So I actually let him be the first to use it. *gasp* Yes, my 4.5 y/o DS used my Merci first! Okay, so I was perched over his shoulder (literally) and helped him "twist, twist, tap, tap" into the ink and smoosh it onto paper. Then he colored it, insisting that he wanted me to help him color so I colored the blue part of the bumble bee and a few of the petals on the flower. Oh yes, he picked the colors "blue and pink" (Ballet Blue and Pretty in Pink.) That line along the top right is where he was going to color all around the card, but I nearly had a heart attack and he relented and just colored in the pictures!

And I can't help but show is handsome face!

I know Ms. Ross will love the card. I was a little apprehensive when the school year started because he was going to have a new teacher and he can be a handful. I need not have worried, she is a wonderful teacher (all that I hoped for) and all the children love her!

Happy Birthday Miss Ross!!

Dad's Birthday Card, Wilson Style

My Dad's birthday is coming along later this month so I thought I'd actually get his card done early. Okay, go ahead and pick your jaw up off the floor and take a look at what I made for him. I was inspired by Kimm's color combination on her blog today. The Brilliant Blue and Certainly Celery just spoke to me, so with this card I started out with the colors first and then picked the stamp set Words by Wilson (retired).

My Dad served in the Navy during Vietnam so I figured he'd appreciate this boat and since I get my humor from him I know he'll laugh. The inside says, "will you pick up my mail while I'm gone?" Haha!

This is a simple card and was easy to put together, but I really like it and the color combination. Masculine cards can be difficult, but I'm so glad this came together so well.

Stamps: Words by Wilson; Ink: Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Brilliant Blue, Real Red Marker; Paper: Certainly Celery, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White; Accessories: SU Distress tool, Sponge Daubers, 1/16" hole punch, Brilliant Blue Brads.

I'm Back~

I didn't realize just how long it had been since I'd blogged. Between two trips in December and all that December is I just didn't get a chance to post anything. Not that I had much to post since I barely stamped. That's right, I didn't even get Christmas cards out this year. *sigh*

Well, I'm back in the saddle with this card I CASEd from Wanda! I changed up the stamp set since I wanted to use A Beautiful Thing, but I just loved her sketch so I kept that and the color scheme.

I think this needs a little something, but I will admit, it does look better IRL and more balanced. I don't have the ribbon so I just left that off. For the flower layer I saw this somewhere else and I really liked it so I used it here. I wish I had a circle punch that was just slightly larger than this flower that would work with the scallop punch, but I don't so this one (1 3/8") will work. It does help add some color so that the flower isn't so stark directly on the black. I didn't have any black or Purely Pomegranite brads so I used a black eyelet and made sure that the black layer was on the bottom so white nor PP would show through.

The white c/s is actually the Shimmery White. I really like the little sparkle that it adds and it isn't a bright white like the Whisper White, a better subdued white if you ask me. :D

Stamps: A Beautiful Thing; Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Basic Black; Paper: Shimmery White, Basic Black & Purely Pomegranate; Accessories: Crop-A-Dile, Black Eyelete, SU scallop punch, SAMJ, sponge and Wanda's Sketch.
